After weeks of research and reflection, you've finally decided to create your website on Wix. But now, when it comes to creating your site, you discover that there are two options: Wix Studio or Wix Editor. Wix Editor is the original editor, which has been around for several years, while Wix Studio is the latest addition to the family, released very recently. In this article, we'll take a look at the main differences between these two options, which will help you determine the ideal solution for your needs.

Wix Studio Editor

User interface

The classic Wix Editor is often chosen for its simplicity and user-friendly interface. You can easily drag and drop elements to create your website without the need for code or advanced technical skills. Pages are easy to structure thanks to bands, sections, and dotted lines that indicate where to place content.

Wix Studio offers the same elements (on the left side of the screen) that can be inserted using drag and drop: text, images, forms, buttons, etc. The interface is familiar, but many new settings have been added to the basic interface in a panel on the right side of the screen. It is these settings that will add an extra layer of design and responsiveness to websites created on Wix Studio.

Features

Wix Studio continues to offer a wide range of features such as pre-designed templates, tools to manage your online store, and integrated applications. However, the new editor goes further by offering two major new features.

In order to create visually modern websites, Wix Studio has been equipped with advanced features such as animations on appearance or scroll, parallax and hover effects, and an enriched media library. If you want to get an idea of the possibilities, you can browse the templates created on Wix Studio.

The second new feature, and not the least, is that Wix Studio allows you to create a fully responsive website. If you have used the classic Wix editor, you may have noticed that you could create a version of the website dedicated to computers, which is roughly the same on all screen sizes, as well as a mobile version. Many elements, such as text, images, and buttons, were not responsive. That's no longer the case with Wix Studio, as you can configure each element of the site to behave differently depending on the size of the visitor's screen.

Wix Responsive Design

Getting started

As you might expect, given the abundance of new features and endless configuration options, Wix Studio is not as easy to learn as the Wix Editor and is also much more time-consuming. If you decide to use this tool, be patient and plan to spend at least twice as much time as you would with the classic editor.

If you want to create a visually stunning website on Wix Studio without going through this lengthy learning process, you can of course call on a Wix expert who has already done the learning for you! Once the website is complete and properly configured, you will have special access to the site that will allow you to simply update the text and images without the risk of breaking anything on the site. This means you remain in control of managing your content!

Performance and Optimization

In terms of performance, Wix Studio has been optimized to offer faster loading speeds and better search engine optimization. Websites created with Wix Studio tend to benefit from better SEO thanks to features such as automatic meta tag generation and a cleaner site structure.

Otherwise, both editors benefit from the same solid foundations that Wix has developed over the past few years, namely all the tools you need to manage your SEO, unparalleled security, near 100% site availability, and reliable apps.

Conclusion

In summary, Wix Editor and Wix Studio share a common technical foundation, while offering unique advantages for creating your website. If you are looking for a simple, fast, and economical solution, the Classic Editor may be perfectly suited to your needs. However, if you want advanced features, a more modern design, and better optimization for different screen sizes, Wix Studio might be the best option. Contrary to what you might think, the subscription price is roughly the same for both tools, so it's really a matter of which one is best suited to your project!
